It’s time for Five Favorites! A monthly series where I list my five favorite knit, crochet, and/or yarn related products. May has brought us some consistently warm weather here in Northern California. I’ve been spending more time outdoors riding bikes, taking long walks with the dog, and of course, knitting and crocheting on the patio! My yarn projects have shifted away from scarves and sweaters to warm weather accessories. My five favorites definitely reflect this shift. Without further ado, here are my May Five Favorites!
1. Lotus Bucket Bag by Plymouth Yarn
This is by far the best project bag I have ever owned! I never carry yarn in my regular purse because I’m afraid of it getting dirty or tangled up with my other purse items. Well this bag has solved all of my #yarnproblems by featuring an inner drawstring pocket! I put my yarn in the drawstring pocket, while my wallet/keys/phone/etc. go in the surrounding bag space. So functional! Plus, just look at the embroidered lotus flower design. Intricate, beautiful, and totally worthy of all the compliments it’s received.
2. Pom-Pom Makers by Clover
I featured Clover’s tassel maker in my April five favorites. Since I loved that product so much, I bought their pom-pom makers as well. There are two sets you can purchase, one for large pom-poms and one for small pom-poms. They are FANTASTIC! Easy to use, and the pom-poms come out looking full and squishy. They offer different size makers to fit your specific project needs, which is helpful. Handmade pom-poms make perfect beanie toppers as well as bag charms, as seen in my recent tutorial. I highly recommend adding these handy tools for your craft supply stash!
3. Stitch Mugs by Debbie Bliss
There is nothing better than waking up in the morning, grabbing your yarn, and pouring a nice hot cup of coffee. Even better if your coffee served in to a stylish mug. I received these stitch mugs as a bridal shower gift. They are printed with knit stitches on the outside, and have the actual instructions for the stitch on the inside rim. Adorable AND useful! Perfect for sipping and knitting on these lovely spring mornings.
4. Rowan Magazine 63
This is my first issue of Rowan Magazine and I can’t believe I didn’t discover it sooner! First off, I LOVE that it includes both knit and crochet patterns for us “bi-stitchual” folks. Second, the large format and glossy photos featured in the magazine are absolutely beautiful. I spent hours staring at all the photos and studying the patterns. Since this is a spring issue, the patterns were more focused on warm weather designs. I cannot wait to try out patterns for the crochet backpack and knit throw pillows!
5. Bernat Maker Home Dec Yarn by Yarnspirations
This lovely yarn with gifted to me by my mom. It’s different from any yarn I’ve used in the past. It’s bulky, tubular, and extremely soft. It’s also machine washable, which makes it ideal for a blanket or even something wearable. These colors are giving me major Mai Tai vibes, which means it must be time to book a trip to Hawaii 😉 I plan to use this yarn for my next project. Can’t wait to see how it knits up!
That’s my five! Check back every month to see my latest and greatest knit/crochet products. Happy stitching!
